Douglas College PE

Hi everyone,

Happy Holidays!

I’m sending out a reminder about our upcoming Winter 2019 PE Games Program at Douglas College.  Currently we have over 50 children registered, but still have space for more.

The program has changed with the addition of First Nations or Aboriginal games, tag games, World games, cooperative games, target games, net/wall games, striking/fielding games, and invasion/territorial games.  We also rotate teachers between the different grade levels to expose your children and my college teachers to different ages and personalities.  Finally, we are now using two different instructional models – Developmental Approach and Games Centred Approach – for the program.  In the Winter program, the 8-week program will be split with the first 4-weeks using one of the instructional models, while being exposed to the different games, and the final 4-weeks using the other instructional model, along with exposure to the different games.  Teachers will rotate at the halfway mark.  We just implemented these changes this fall and received positive comments from a lot of families.

Enjoy your holidays and thank you for participating in our program over the last 10+ years!  I hope that you will continue in our program if your child(ren) are still old enough.  If your child(ren) are in high school (or beyond), I wish them all the best and, again, a big thank you for participating in our program at some point!
