Students in Grades K to 5 are invited to join us for a field trip to the Geological Survey of Canada, located at 1500 – 605 Robson Street, Vancouver.

The GSC is the country’s oldest scientific organization and one of Canada’s first government organizations. In 1842, the Geological Survey of Canada was formed and William Edmond Logan was appointed as the Survey’s the first Director on April 14, 1842. Its mandate was to assist in developing a viable Canadian mineral industry by establishing the general geological base on which the industry could plan further detailed investigations. Throughout its long history, the GSC has played a leading role in the exploration of Canada. Part of the scheduled program is called “cookie mining”. The cookies may contain nuts.
