In 1842\, the Geological Survey of Canada was formed and William Edmond Logan was appointed as the Survey’s the first Director on April 14\, 1842. Its mandate was to assist in developing a viable Canadian mineral industry by establishing the general geological base on which the industry could plan further detailed investigations. Throughout its long history\, the GSC has played a leading role in the exploration of Canada. Part of the scheduled program is called “cookie mining”. The cookies may contain nuts. We have organized 3 different tours divided into grade groups; a description of each tour session is attached. \nK – 2: Copper Quest\, Mineral Detectives\, Lunch\, Gold Quest 3 – 5: Copper Quest\, Mineral Detectives\, Lunch\, Gold Quest 6 – 9: Volcanic Origins\, Legacies\, Stakeholders\, Lunch \nWe will meet at 10:15 a.m. at the museum on Tuesday\, February 18\, 2020. The field trip will be supervised by Home Quest staff and parent volunteers. Students should be dressed for the weather. It is cold year round in the tunnel and mill. Their guides recommend layering and sturdy footwear. For wet weather days they recommend rain gear. Please bring only small backpacks\, as they have limited storage on site\, and a bag lunch. Theatre staff will begin seating groups at 10:30 am. \nBeep is a beautiful story of friendship\, overcoming adversity and working together. The show\nfocuses on the trials of Beep\, a robot who has landed on a strange planet and is unable to return home. Slowly but surely\, her power starts to drain\, and the audience is left wondering what will become\nof this loveable robot.
