Families are asked to arrive by 10:15 am as our entire group\nmust be present before we can be seated. Theatre staff will begin seating groups at 10:30\nam. \nDue to a restricted number of seats\, tickets are for enrolled Home Quest students and may\ninclude one parent\, as well. DESCRIPTION:Students in Grades K to 5 are invited to join us for a field trip to the Geological Survey of Canada\, located at 1500 – 605 Robson Street\, Vancouver. \nThe GSC is the country’s oldest scientific organization and one of Canada’s first government organizations. In 1842\, the Geological Survey of Canada was formed and William Edmond Logan was appointed as the Survey’s the first Director on April 14\, 1842. Its mandate was to assist in developing a viable Canadian mineral industry by establishing the general geological base on which the industry could plan further detailed investigations. Throughout its long history\, the GSC has played a leading role in the exploration of Canada. Part of the scheduled program is called “cookie mining”. The cookies may contain nuts. DESCRIPTION:Students in Grades K to 9 are invited to join us for a field trip to the Britannia Mine Museum\, located at 1 Forbes Way\, Britannia Beach\, BC. We have organized 3 different tours divided into grade groups; a description of each tour session is attached. \nK – 2: Copper Quest\, Mineral Detectives\, Lunch\, Gold Quest 3 – 5: Copper Quest\, Mineral Detectives\, Lunch\, Gold Quest 6 – 9: Volcanic Origins\, Legacies\, Stakeholders\, Lunch \nWe will meet at 10:15 a.m. at the museum on Tuesday\, February 18\, 2020. The field trip will be supervised by Home Quest staff and parent volunteers. Students should be dressed for the weather. It is cold year round in the tunnel and mill. Their guides recommend layering and sturdy footwear. For wet weather days they recommend rain gear. Please bring only small backpacks\, as they have limited storage on site\, and a bag lunch. SUMMARY:Carousel Theatre Presents "Beep"
DESCRIPTION:We have arranged a field trip for Home Quest students and parents on Friday\, February 21\, 2020 to see “Beep” at the Carousel Theatre on Granville Island (1411 Cartwright Street\, Vancouver\, BC). \nFamilies are asked to arrive by 10:15 am as our entire group must be present before we can be seated. Theatre staff will begin seating groups at 10:30 am. \nBeep is a beautiful story of friendship\, overcoming adversity and working together. The show\nfocuses on the trials of Beep\, a robot who has landed on a strange planet and is unable to return home. Slowly but surely\, her power starts to drain\, and the audience is left wondering what will become\nof this loveable robot. DESCRIPTION:Grouse Mountain is closed due to the COVID Virus. This trip is cancelled. \n  \nStudents in Grades 3 and up are invited to join us for a field trip to Grouse Mountain\, located at 6400 Nancy Green Way in North Vancouver on Thursday\, April 9\, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. \n  \nOur day will begin with Alpine Wilderness Safety\, which offers a unique blend of hands-on safety/survival skills and outdoor adventure experiences. Then we’ll have a Snowshoe tour that will lead students on a journey through a winter wonderland on a fun snowy adventure. Students will explore snowshoeing technique\, learn about winter conditions\, hazards and terrain. After lunch\, we’ll then have a 45-minute hiwus presentation. The híwus Feasthouse is the meeting place\, to enjoy a full day of vivid legends\, songs\, dances and crafts. Step into an authentic Pacific Northwest Longhouse and let a Squamish First Nations Elder take you back in time to discover the traditional way of life of our First Nations people. \n  \nWe will send home a detailed timeline closer to the date. For now\, please mark your calendars to meet at 9:30am at the base of the Mountain. We will head up together on the 9:45am tram. The fieldtrip will be supervised by Home Quest staff and parent volunteers. Please bring only small backpacks with a water bottle and lunch. DESCRIPTION:This trip has been cancelled due to COVID-19 precautions.\n  \nStudents from Kindergarten to Grade 9 are invited to join us for a fieldtrip at A Rocha Farm\, located at 1620 192nd Street in Surrey on Thursday\, April 16th\, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to about 12 p.m. \n  \nFor children and youth\, the Brooksdale Environmental Centre offers place-based learning experiences that get kids up close and personal with the natural world. Whether they’re dipping nets into ponds\, pulling carrots from the garden\, or peering through binoculars\, participants come away with a greater appreciation and understanding of the ecosystem in which they live. \n  \nWe will meet at the sign next to the car park at 9:45 a.m. The leaders will be there to welcome you. The fieldtrip will be supervised by Home Quest staff and parent volunteers. Students should be dressed for the weather as we will continue rain or shine. Appropriate footwear is required. The fieldtrip is held entirely outside for 2 hours. Programs do not stop for washroom and snack breaks. DESCRIPTION:This trip has been cancelled.\n  \nStudents in Grades 3 and up are invited to join us for a field trip at Deep Cove Kayak\, located at 2156 Banbury Road in North Vancouver on Thursday\, April 30th\, 2020 from 10:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. Driving directions can be found here. \n  \nWe will be off on a 2-hour tour to learn about local history and enjoy the beauty of our surrounding mountains. Nestled in the fjord\, you will find harbour seals\, eagles\, sea stars and other wildlife in a rich marine environment. \n  \nWe will meet at the location at 9:40am\, but please give yourself lots of extra time to find parking. The fieldtrip will be supervised by Home Quest staff and parent volunteers. Students should be dressed for the weather as we will continue rain or shine.
